This includes changes to the Biology, Quantitative Reasoning, and Critical Thinking sections.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The American Dental Association aka the ADA announced changes coming to the DAT in 2016. The key words to the upcoming changes are <strong>Critical Thinking<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>To be clear, these DAT changes will go into effect in 2016 <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>so if you\u2019re taking the test this year,<strong>\u00a0no worries<\/strong>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The ADA will be looking at assessing not only your knowledge of the section subjects like natural sciences and reading comp but soon your critical thinking skills as well. In their own words on the addition the ADA states,<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-242 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/datcracker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Screen-Shot-2015-05-31-at-10.53.31-PM.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2015-05-31 at 10.53.31 PM\" width=\"616\" height=\"106\" srcset=\"https:\/\/datcracker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Screen-Shot-2015-05-31-at-10.53.31-PM.png 843w, https:\/\/datcracker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Screen-Shot-2015-05-31-at-10.53.31-PM-300x52.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 616px) 100vw, 616px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Instead of adding an entirely new additional content section, critical thinking skills will be assessed by embedding higher cognitive processing requirements within the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Quantitative Reasoning Test (QRT) section!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Within the QRT section, Critical Thinking will be covered in the following areas\u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Data Analysis, Interpretation, and Sufficiency<\/span> (NEW)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Quantitative Comparison<\/span> (NEW)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Probability and Statistics<\/span> (more items)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>As stated in our <a href=\"http:\/\/datcracker.com\/blog\/dat-breakdown-quantitative-reasoning-2015-02-16\/\">Quantitative Reasoning Section Breakdown<\/a> post these are the current topics covered in the section\u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong> Algebra<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Numeric calculations<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Conversions<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong> Probability and Statistics<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Geometry<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Trigonometry<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The ADA will give a further detailed outline in the 2016 DAT Guide so we\u2019ll be sure to cover the QRT changes more in detail when it\u2019s released.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The ADA also announced is a new test for advanced dental degrees called the <strong>Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT)<\/strong>. <em>This test will be for current dental students in their 3rd or 4th year or current dentists interested in postgrad training or degrees.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Since we\u2019re more concerned with the Dental Admission Test right now we\u2019ll worry about this test later.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s all for now DAT testers.<\/p>\n<p>Remember to keep up the hard work with <a href=\"http:\/\/datcracker.com\/\">DAT Cracker<\/a> because with these changes the DAT is only getting exceedingly more strenuous!<\/p>\n<h3><em>Happy Practicing!<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>*NOTE: ADA decided not implement these changes after all.
