Got\u00a0gleaming DAT scores? How about all that extra stuff like volunteer work, research projects, and extracurriculars? Well now it&#8217;s time to lay it all on the line!\u00a0<strong>The American Dental Education Association (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.adea.org\/godental\/\">ADEA<\/a>) has officially opened the Associated American Dental Schools Application Service aka the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aadsas.liaisoncas.com\/applicant-ux\/#\/login\">AADSAS<\/a>\u00a0for the 2018 cycle!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a class=\"lightbox\" href=\"https:\/\/datcracker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Screen-Shot-2017-06-28-at-8.55.40-AM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-356\" src=\"https:\/\/datcracker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Screen-Shot-2017-06-28-at-8.55.40-AM.png\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2017-06-28 at 8.55.40 AM\" width=\"310\" height=\"161\" srcset=\"https:\/\/datcracker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Screen-Shot-2017-06-28-at-8.55.40-AM.png 375w, https:\/\/datcracker.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Screen-Shot-2017-06-28-at-8.55.40-AM-300x156.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 310px) 100vw, 310px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">*Now just because the application is open until February doesn&#8217;t mean this gets to go on the back burner. It is highly suggested by literally everyone (schools, advisors, DAT Cracker, and me) that you get your completed application in the <em>summer time<\/em>!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Check out the full &amp; official ADEA AADSAS Application Instructions\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.adea.org\/uploadedFiles\/GoDental\/The_Application_to_Dental_School_ADEA_AADSAS\/2018ADEAAADSASInstructionsrev6212017.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>For now we&#8217;ll focus on the highlights&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Getting Started&#8230;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Firstly you&#8217;ll need to <strong>create an ADEA AADSAS account<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/aadsas.liaisoncas.com\/applicant-ux\/#\/userAccount\">here<\/a>, and receive an\u00a0identification number for the application process. This account\/number is different from you <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ada.org\/en\/education-careers\/dentpin\">DENTPIN<\/a>\u00a0you created for taking the Dental Admission Test (DAT). But have your <strong>DENTPIN<\/strong> handy too because you&#8217;ll need it submit your DAT scores along to dental schools through the AADSAS.<\/p>\n<p>The application is <em>dense<\/em> and filling it out all the required information is a task not to be taken lightly.\u00a0Take your time to insure all the detailed information\u00a0is correct. Some of the sections you&#8217;ll see include <em>Personal Information, Academic History,Relevant Experiences, and your Personal Statement<\/em> to name a few.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Check out this video from ADEA on filling out the big Academic History section:<\/strong><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/YYLo5QFNWlQ?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">In addition to the filling out all the sections of the AADSAS you will also submit <strong>official transcripts<\/strong> and your <strong>letters of evaluation<\/strong> in order to completely complete your AADSAS 2018 application.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">$ Cost $<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><em>The total application cost truly lies in the number of dental programs you are planning on applying to.<\/em>\u00a0Upon completely the AADSAS the fee is\u00a0<strong>$245<\/strong>\u00a0and it includes\u00a0submission to one school then it&#8217;s an\u00a0<strong>additional $98 for each\u00a0additional\u00a0school<\/strong>. The application process as a whole can quickly become expensive with the cost of taking the DAT, completely the AADSAS, then individual schools <em>secondary<\/em> application fees, traveling to interviews, etc. so you really want to do your research and narrow down the programs you really want to apply to!<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Fee Assistance Program (FAP)\u00a0<\/strong>is available to assist students who demonstrate extreme financial need while completing the AADSAS 2018 process. The FAP covers the initial AADSAS 2018 submission cost as well two additional dental school designations. Availability of these funds is limited and submission of additional paperwork is required so if you&#8217;re interested I&#8217;d suggest to get on this <strong>post haste<\/strong>! All the info:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.adea.org\/uploadedFiles\/GoDental\/The_Application_to_Dental_School_ADEA_AADSAS\/2018ADEAAADSASFEEASSISTANCEPROGRAMINSTRUCTIONS03282017.pdf\">Fee Assistance Program<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">TMDSAS<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>If you are a Texas resident applying to a Texas school<\/strong>\u00a0then you need the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmdsas.com\/dental\/application-instructions.html\">Texas Medical &amp; Dental Schools Application Service aka the TMDSAS<\/a>, which already opened up May 1st! Applicants from Texas MUST use this application while non-Texas residents can apply with either the TMDSAS or the AADSAS! FYI the\u00a0<strong>$150<\/strong>\u00a0app fee covers you to apply to all three dental schools!
